Itron Resiliency Solutions is an innovative business unit within Itron focused on solving mission critical problems for utilities through software and AI. Resiliency Solutions offers unique, market leading solutions for front-line worker safety, storm response, excavation damage prevention, construction management, and many more. We're looking for a full-stack engineer who is strong on the frontend (React.js / React Native / Expo) while still comfortable owning backend services end-to-end. You'll also be expected to actively build with Generative AI — not just use AI coding assistants, but design and ship AI-enabled features — and follow our AI Development Lifecycle (AIDLC) practices for anything involving models.

Duties & Responsibilities

Frontend / Product

• •Design and build responsive, high-performance UIs and mobile experiences using React.js, React Native, and Expo.
• •Own features end-to-end — from UI/UX implementation through backend integration, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• •Collaborate closely with product and design to deliver customer-centric, polished experiences.

Backend

• •Design and build scalable, reliable APIs and backend services, applying clean architecture and SOLID principles.
• •Optimize database performance through schema design, indexing, and query tuning.
• •Implement observability, logging, security, and operational best practices.
• •Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams on deployment and infrastructure.

GenAI / AIDLC

• •Leverage Generative AI technologies (LLMs, copilots, AI frameworks/APIs) to enhance product capabilities and developer productivity.
• •Build AI-enabled features end-to-end: model/API integration, prompt design, evaluation, and monitoring.
• •Follow AI Development Lifecycle (AIDLC) practices — including model evaluation, governance, and responsible AI principles — for all AI-driven work.
• •Stay current on GenAI tooling and bring relevant capabilities into the product where they add value.
• •Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

Frontend (primary emphasis)

• •Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+), React.js, React Native, and Expo for mobile app development.
• •Solid grasp of state management, component architecture, and building performant, accessible UIs.

Backend

• •Solid backend development experience in at least one of Python, Go, Java, C#, or Node.js.
• •Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• •Working knowledge of database design, indexing, transactions, caching, and performance tuning.
• •Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• •Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and microservices.

GenAI / AIDLC

• •Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications using LLMs, AI frameworks/APIs, or copilots.
• •Practical understanding of the AI Development Lifecycle (AIDLC), prompt engineering, model evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
• •Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and system design skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• •Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, or similar messaging/caching technologies.
• •Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• •Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, secrets management, and security best practices.
• •Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation).
• •Exposure to Utilities, Energy, or enterprise SaaS platforms.
