About the Team

The Digital Commons Publishing Services team supports over 600 institutions and hundreds of journals on Elsevier's Digital Commons platform, the world's leading Diamond Open Access publishing platform. We partner with universities, journal editors, and research institutions globally to help them build sustainable, high-quality journals that meet international publishing and indexing standards.

About the Role

As a Strategic Advisor, you will serve as a trusted consultant to journal editors and institutional leaders, providing expert guidance on journal quality, indexing readiness, publishing ethics, research integrity, and emerging trends such as AI in scholarly publishing. You will work with a portfolio of Premier journals and collaborate with internal consulting, product, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

• •Advise journals on Scopus and Web of Science indexing readiness, quality improvement, and long-term sustainability.
• •Coach editors on publishing best practices, research integrity, ethics, and AI-related publishing challenges.
• •Develop performance reports, impact analyses, and strategic recommendations.
• •Deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations for editorial teams and institutions.
• •Represent Digital Commons at editorial board meetings, conferences, and industry events.
• •Partner with product, sales, and consulting teams to identify client needs and drive service excellence.
• •Contribute to best practice guides, onboarding materials, and service development initiatives.

Requirements

• •PhD in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of research experience.
• •Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
• •Experience in academic publishing, scholarly communications, or journal management.
• •Knowledge of Scopus, Web of Science, research integrity, and publishing ethics.
• •Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
• •Prior experience with Editorial Manager or a similar manuscript submission system is a plus.
• •Willingness to travel as required.
