Job Description

The Strategy Manager role is responsible for providing key actionable insights from operating environment and industry landscape, providing strategic reports from in-depth financial and business analysis, coordinate country’s strategic planning and consolidation process, support strategy cascade and effective business reviews in collaboration with leaders, drive disciplined strategy implementation and performance tracking and to deliver high-quality strategic and executive reporting to internal and external stakeholders

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver on strategy review and business planning cycle outputs

o Coordinate the strategic planning cycle and process for Uganda businesses and facilitate the integration of country plans into the consolidated plan. Overall liaison of templates, dissemination, engagement meetings and presentations

o Support preparation of country strategic plans for engagements with Boards and the Center.

o Performs ad hoc strategic analysis deep-dives on key issues facing the business or industry.

o Prepare strategy documents for various stakeholders at country consolidated level

Deliver on Uganda country Intelligence

o Provide timely research, analysis and insights on key topics such as evolving market externalities, competitive dynamics, peers activities, emerging industry issues-banking & Insurance) consolidations and legal/regulatory changes

o Craft a strategic story out of the numbers. Present complex analytical findings in a clear, concise, and decision-impacting manner. Influence leadership

o Provide research and deep dives into specific topics at portfolio and country/business level

o Support development of business cases and internal views on key topics

o Lead critical decision analysis workstreams that tackle ambiguous and complex analytical problems. Translate analysis into meaningful business insights. Build potential options and actionable recommendations around those insights.

Strategic Business Analysis & Financial planning

o Support in conducting business analysis to identify opportunities for optimisation and performance enhancement

o Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse financial performance, highlighting trends and insights to inform strategic planning and reporting.

Strategic Implementation tracking:

o Track and provide dashboard of key strategic initiatives as per different cadence of tracking

o Monitor and report on course correction measures and assess impact

o Maintain a single source of organization performance data on an on-going basis

o Provide ad-hoc strategic review on key issues areas

o Flag issue areas for course correction

Strategic Reporting:

o Prepares quality and timely executive business performance reports on a monthly/quarterly basis

o Provide statutory reporting requirement reports

o Provide quarterly business performance report for various stakeholders engagements

Support Mission planning discipline

For effective strategy execution and business reviews

Prepare company mission plan/goals and provide quality assurance on all Level 2 missions plans and scorecards

Support mission plan cascading across the organization

Oversee monthly updates of all missions in stratex

Plan the Quarterly Business Review meeting to facilitate quarterly business prioritization (in line with strategy) and completion of action points arising out of the quarterly business review meeting and strategy mission status review sessions

Provide a monthly update on company mission

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Technical/Functional Skills

Proven strength in structured problem solving, critical thinking, and solution execution across complex business issues.

Strong financial and business analysis capability; experience across financial services sub-sectors (insurance, asset management, banking) is an advantage.

Skilled project and programme management, with the ability to plan and engage internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals.

Able to structure and solve large, complex, and ambiguous problems, translating analysis into actionable options and recommendations.

Behavioral Competencies

Strong people skills and the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organisation.

Proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and an attitude that finishes the work to a high level of professionalism.

Resilient under short deadlines, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or similar discipline; MBA Preferred.

8+ Years –Business analysis, management/financial consulting, financial services sector,corporate strategy

ANTI- MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action
