SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS ENGINEER

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Chief of the Capabilities and Integration Branch providing planning, direction, organization, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to A6OC and to be the subject matter expert for Cyber and Intel system integration and deployment.

Duties

DUTY 1: Serves as the 16 AF/A6 subject matter expert in enabling communications for 16 AF mission capabilities. DUTY 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. DUTY 3: Represents A6 and collaborates with a variety AF and DOD organizations. DUTY 4: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 16th AF/A6OC ensuring that A6OC complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.

Qualifications

This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Supervision/Management" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, and Scientific Positions. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include utilizing judgment, resourcefulness, and initiative in adapting and applying guidelines. Is responsible for analyzing results and recommending changes to deal with the more difficult or unusual assignments. Mastery of advanced concepts, principles, and practices of electronics engineering in communications and computer systems to investigate and provide consultative services on Cyber and intelligence systems infrastructure and communications. Serves as technical authority in the cost, design, acquisition and installation of hardware and software for 16 AF cryptographic, LAN and WAN systems requiring new approaches or posing unique problems. Knowledge of transmission media characteristics including wireline, fiber and radio frequency as well as related engineering fields. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Advanced professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling and simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices and procedures; and ability to modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems. Knowledge of 16 AF, AF, DOD and IC communications, networks and systems, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s). Broad knowledge of AF, DoD and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines requirements, and initiatives related to communications and Cyber/intel missions. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly. Ability to effectively organize and analyze information; produce authoritative reports, position papers, and briefings that are responsive to the specifics needs of commanders and senior management officials; present clear and concise findings; and effectively advocate for a position. Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology and in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, and resolve complex issues or problems. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
