Supervisory Fire Protection Specialist

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date. Duties

• •Supervising employees within the Fire Prevention Branch.
• •Responsible for developing, planning and scheduling work.
• •Directs and overseas the maintenance of installation fire inspection records, fire investigation reports, as well as a multitude of other official records
• •Reviews building inspection hazard reports prepared by subordinates, insures information and documentation of inspections is annotated correctly.
• •Review and modifies program methods as needed to meet changing program objectives and program effectiveness.
• •Review plans and specifications for new construction and/or remodeling plans for existing structures.
• •Advise, counsels and instructs employees on both work and administrative matters.
• •Responsible for organizing, scheduling and completion of all required inspection requirements as established by regulatory timetables.
• •Organizes the installation training requirements into scheduled areas, sets up training classes for all military and civilian employee personnel
• •Plans and conducts a comprehensive educational program for the annual Fire Prevention Week observance as required by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) leading members of a firefighting crew; 2) assisting in the development of fire prevention programs; 3) Planning and coordinating training with emergency response units. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the below listed certifications (for their applicable grade) certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. To qualify, the incumbent must possess the following IFSAC/PROBOARD certifications at time of application: Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III and/or Fire Inspector (NFPA Standard: 1030 Edition 2024), Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander and within one year of hire date you must obtain Fire Investigator.
