Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The incumbent will serve as Chief of the Traffic Investigation Section, Operations Branch, Police Division, responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of a 24 hours, rotating shifts, seven days a week traffic branch.
Duties
- Serve as Chief of the Traffic Investigation Section, Operations Branch, Police Division, responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of a 24 hours, rotating shifts, seven days a week traffic branch.
- Direct and supervise all aspects of traffic control, enforcement and analyses.
- Plan, manage and direct all aspects of motor vehicle traffic investigation for the installation.
- Conduct long-range and day-to-day planning of traffic missions and investigations, and subordinate activities ensuring consideration of all assigned areas of responsibility.
- Plan, schedule, and distribute work to subordinates as necessary to achieve effective and expeditious accomplishment of organizational goals and missions.
- Perform uniformed police officer duties when needed to assist in police operations and assure compliance with Federal, State, County and municipal laws and ordinances, and agency rules and regulations.
- Conduct liaison visits to local and state law enforcement agencies to discuss areas of mutual concern, level of service, and future plans
- Perform duties as Military Police Duty Officer (MPDO) on a rotating basis on assigned weekends, supervising a shift of law enforcement personnel.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-08 grade level which includes: managing all aspects of motor vehicle traffic investigations; planning traffic missions and investigations; planning, scheduling, and/or distributing work to subordinates; performs traffic engineering functions by conducting traffic control studies.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08)
