Supply Chain Performance and Budgeting Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Supply Chain Performance and Budgeting Manager, you will be the expert driving efficiency, productivity, and cost optimisation across the Waitrose distribution network. Leading a team of analysts, you will turn complex financial and operational data into strategic decisions that elevate performance across both Partner-led and 3rd-party distribution sites.

In this strategic role, you will bridge Finance and Supply Chain operations, managing site-level budgets, tracking continuous improvement benefits, and surfacing actionable insights. Working closely with site teams and cross-functional partners, you will deliver robust reporting that surfaces risks, guides business case investments, and ensures targets are met.



 Contract Type: Permanent

Expected salary: Salary up to £85,000, depending on experience

Location: Bracknell Head Office

Working pattern/flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs, whilst balancing the needs of the business. The team aims for a minimum of 3 days in the office to connect and attend key meetings. The current core days are Wednesdays and Thursdays

Please note, travel to other locations across the Supply Chain network will be required once or twice a month

Interviews will be held in person at our Bracknell Head Office campus

Key responsibilities

• •Lead, motivate, and develop a team of data analysts to track, analyze, and optimize productivity across the Waitrose Supply Chain network.
• •Deliver detailed performance insights across all distribution centers (Partner-run and 3PL) to surface risks, identify efficiency gains, and drive continuous improvement.
• •Partner with site management to oversee P&Ls, manage operational budgets, and lead regular review meetings to evaluate performance and address cost variances.
• •Translate high-level business plans and demand forecasts into actionable, site-level operational budgets for labor and assets.
• •Review end-to-end integrated planning outputs, comparing actual operational costs against planned budgets for internal and external cost centers.
• •Support strategic supply chain change programs by developing robust business cases, setting baselines, and tracking long-term benefit delivery.
• •Facilitate seamless cross-functional reporting and alignment between Finance, Supply Chain, and broader business leadership.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

• •Proven track record of leading and developing teams of data or supply chain analysts
• •Experience in retail supply chain budgeting, financial analysis, and site P&L management
• •Experience working with and managing third-party (3PL) delivery partners
• •Exceptional analytical, data-handling, and problem-solving capabilities,
• •Strong background in writing, developing, and tracking commercial business cases and ROI
• •Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and adapt communication styles across different business areas

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• •Financial qualification or formal background in financial planning
• •Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and Data Warehousing environments
