SUPV DATA SCIENTIST

Summary

Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Center for Program Integrity, Data Analytics and Systems Group (DASG), Division of Investigative & Business Analytics (DIBA). As a SUPV DATA SCIENTIST, GS-1560-14, you will serve as Deputy Division Director, directing data science, investigative analytics, workforce operations, and program management to detect fraud, waste, abuse, and improper payments.

Duties

• •Directing advanced data science and investigative analytics supporting fraud detection, improper payment identification, payment suspensions, and program integrity operations.
• •Supervising multidisciplinary federal and contractor staff by assigning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, resolving personnel matters, and developing workforce capabilities.
• •Developing and overseeing predictive models, machine learning methods, anomaly detection techniques, algorithms, and analytical workflows for enterprise-scale Medicare and Medicaid data.
• •Managing investigative analytics programs, contractor support, project planning, budgets, acquisitions, risks, and resources to ensure timely and accurate delivery of mission-critical products.
• •Advising executive leadership and partner organizations by translating complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for investigations, resource allocation, policy, and fraud prevention strategies.

Possess a degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR B. Possess a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Developing and applying analytical models or algorithms using advanced programming languages to analyze complex datasets for the purpose of detecting fraud, waste and abuse; 2. Communicating highly technical complex analytical findings to multiple audiences through written reports or oral presentations; 3. Provides advice or guidance to management on establishing or enhancing standard procedures for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; AND 4. Acted as lead on a machine learning, AI solutions and/or a predictive modeling project. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
