System Engineer – Electrical & Electronic Circuit Protection

We’re looking for a System Engineer - Electrical & Electronic Circuit Protection to join our R&D Center in San Sebastian, Spain and play a key role in the development of next-generation industrial circuit protection products within our Industrial Circuit Protection (ICP) business.

In this role, you’ll work across electrical, electronic, mechanical and manufacturing disciplines - taking electrical sub-systems from concept and design through prototyping, validation and production.

What you’ll do

• •Design and develop electrical sub-systems for industrial circuit breakers, fuse switch disconnectors and related protection devices, from concept through validation.
• •Perform electrical calculations, simulations and component selection to meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements.
• •Apply system engineering principles to integrate electrical, electronic, mechanical and molding-process requirements into robust product designs.
• •Support prototyping, proof-of-concept activities and design verification testing.
• •Work closely with the Technology Research Manager, Prototype Center and Lab Test Center to develop and validate new solutions.
• •Lead the technical aspects of new product development projects within your area of expertise.
• •Collaborate with suppliers, customers, Quality, Sourcing and Manufacturing teams to select, qualify and launch components and sub-systems.
• •Support benchmarking of industrial breaker technologies and use market references to inform design decisions.
• •Support first-article inspections and manufacturing ramp-up, troubleshooting design-related issues during production launch.
• •Work with molding engineering teams and suppliers to ensure tooling and component quality meet design requirements.
• •Maintain technical documentation, calculations and test results throughout the development process.
• •Help build and maintain Littelfuse expertise in industrial breaker electrical sub-systems and molding processes.

What you’ll bring

• •Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; Mechanical Engineering with a strong background in electrical sub-system development will also be considered. Master’s degree is a plus.
• •Solid, demonstrable experience in electrical sub-system design for industrial applications.
• •Experience with industrial circuit breakers, fuse switch disconnectors or similar electrical protection products.
• •Knowledge of electrical component selection, product standards and testing methods.
• •Experience with product development cycles and Stage-Gate processes.
• •Some understanding of molding processes and Design for Manufacturing would be highly valuable.
• •Experience with electrical, mechanical or environmental test setups.
• •APQP knowledge is a plus.
• •Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail and organization.
• •Experience working in an international and cross-functional environment.
• •Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish.
