We are on a mission to change the accounting industry by creating the premier people-first firm where strong and talented team members will thrive. We are innovators of tax services and firm culture with work-life integration. We accomplish this by using the best technology and automation on the market, offering unlimited vacation and sick days, fostering an autonomous work environment, providing ongoing training, and offering health insurance and 401(k) matching.

As a Senior Tax Advisor at our firm, you will primarily be involved in tax planning and advisory services for real estate investors and small business owners. Senior Advisors provide technical input on tax and accounting issues, research tax solutions, provide training to less experienced staff, and nurture client relationships. This role is largely client facing and advisors communicate directly with clients via email, Zoom, Loom, or phone on a frequent basis.

The most important characteristic of our Advisory team is that we deliver on promises and meet deadlines. Our clients depend on us to guide them through complex issues and provide them with practical steps to implement our recommended strategies or positions (or minimize their tax liability). This can include delivering complex information in a manner which the client can absorb and apply practically. Our job is to build strong foundations of trust by delivering when we say we will, and doing so in a clear and concise manner.

We are a 100% virtual CPA firm, with our team located across the United States. As a real estate niche-focused firm, we serve Real Estate Investors, Syndicates, and Fund Managers. Our team has a passion for real estate and often owns investment properties themselves.

Team members who thrive at our firm have excellent time management skills, are self-starters, adaptable, take pride in their work, and work well in an autonomous environment.

Areas of Responsibility

Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring their best interests are represented by maintaining strong relationships by managing their expectations, being responsive to their communications/emails, and reaching out proactively

Create and deliver tailored tax plans to clients, and update those plans periodically

Research complex tax issues, citing the Internal Revenue Code and supporting sources, and provide recommendations for resolution

Coordinate client’s tax preparation needs with the tax preparation team, and assist with client communication during tax season to ensure a seamless transition for clients and proposed strategies are implemented

Adhere to professional ethics of the firm and AICPA, including policies regarding client confidentiality

Seen as a subject matter expert in real estate taxation with a deep understanding of real estate concepts and transactions, taxation regulations and strategies, and general accounting knowledge, as well as remain up to date on changes in tax laws and procedures through CPE

Assist in various projects throughout the year designed to enhance client/employee experience including, but not limited to, client proposals, process improvements, efficiency and effectiveness committees, and development and delivery of training materials

Complete administrative tasks applicable to the role such as maintaining accurate and up to date project information within our project management system, taking and appropriately storing adequate client notes, and adhering to project processes

Recommend other firm services to the benefit of the client. Ex: bookkeeping services, tax advisory etc.

Measures for Success

NPS ratings from clients, averaging 9/10 or greater

Timeliness of deliverables and workpapers, reflected by production metrics

Development of your technical skills, reflected in participation of advisory channels such as Slack and team meetings, and ability to tackle projects of greater complexity

Client ongoing advisory retention rate

Expectations for remote work

Clean background with no noise or distractions

Business casual attire for client interactions

Always use video (80% of communication is non-verbal)

We provide a laptop and an annual $500 tech reimbursement for computer/tech accessories
