Role Overview

This is a senior, hands-on hybrid role designed for an expert who can seamlessly bridge the gap between deep business analysis and end-to-end project delivery. You will be responsible for analyzing complex tax operational workflows, gathering and documenting detailed business requirements, and designing future-state operating models. Simultaneously, you will act as the Project Manager—owning the project lifecycle, tracking milestones, managing risks, and ensuring successful implementation across our International Tax Operations portfolio. Crucially, you will also serve as the functional manager for a team of Business Analysts, overseeing their day-to-day deliverables, resource allocation, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & BA Management

  • Direct Line Management: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Business Analysts (BAs), conducting performance reviews, setting career goals, and fostering professional growth.
  • Resource Allocation: Oversee BA capacity planning and assign resources to various regulatory, technology, and operational change initiatives based on project priorities and individual skill sets.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce business analysis standards, methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum), and templates (BRDs, FRDs, User Stories) to ensure high-quality deliverables across the team.

Business Analysis & Process Engineering (Primary Focus)

  • Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Lead workshops with senior stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document detailed business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
  • Process Mapping & Target Operating Model (TOM) Design: Analyze "as-is" operational workflows to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities; design robust "to-be" processes.
  • Data & Systems Analysis: Deep-dive into complex tax data sets and system architectures to translate business needs into clear technical specifications for Engineering teams.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Define UAT strategies, write comprehensive test cases, coordinate testing cycles, and validate that delivered technology solutions meet original business requirements.

Project Management & Delivery (Core Focus)

  • Project Planning & Execution: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, defining scope, milestones, resource requirements, and key deliverables.
  • RAID Management: Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies (RAID log management).
  • Governance & Reporting: Establish project governance routines and provide clear, data-driven progress updates to steering committees and senior leadership.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional delivery teams (including developers, tax subject matter experts, and compliance officers) to ensure on-time delivery.

Stakeholder & Change Management

  • Strategic Liaison: Act as the primary translator and conduit between Tax Operations, Engineering, Corporate Tax, Business Unit Operations, Compliance, Legal, and external consultants.
  • Change Enablement: Design and execute change management plans, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and post-implementation support.

Portfolio Scope

  • Regulatory Change: Analyzing and implementing updates for global tax reporting and compliance-driven mandates (e.g., FATCA/CRS Reporting, Withholding Tax (FASTER), Transaction Tax).
  • Technology & Automation: Driving workflow optimization, platform enhancements, and the integration of automation tools.
  • Remediation & Risk Reduction: Addressing operational control gaps, documenting key processes, and mitigating regulatory risks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a hybrid BA/PM or senior Business Analyst role within financial services, specifically focusing on Tax Operations, Regulatory Change, or Operational Transformation.
  • People Management: Proven track record of directly managing, coaching, and developing a team of Business Analysts or change professionals.
  • Business Analysis Expertise: Mastery of BA methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum, user story mapping, SQL, data analysis, and process modeling tools like Signavio or Visio).
  • Project Management Capabilities: Proven track record of managing project lifecycles, tracking budgets, and utilizing PM tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project).
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of operational tax processes, financial services workflows, and risk management frameworks.
  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree. Professional certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum Master) are highly preferred.
