Tech Director for Fall Play (Part-time Temporary)

Position Summary

Serve as Technical Director for the Upper School Fall Play: Comedy of Errors. Rehearsals are ongoing with performances Nov 5-7 at 7:00pm. Technical Director should meet with the director and production team on a regular basis and be on campus for rehearsals 3 days a week in September and early October; all school days 3 weeks before the performance. Rehearsal timeframe is 3:30-5:30 until tech week. More hours as needed to achieve technical goals.

Duties

• •Assist with Fall Play - Comedy of Errors: Collaborate with designers and construct the set; execute installation and removal; design lighting and props, oversee sound. Oversee subcontractors as needed.
• •Student Tech Team: Oversee and mentor student stage management and crew.
• •Technical/Operational Maintenance: Maintain the production space (Chapel) and ensure that all technical equipment housed there is stored and managed properly.
• •Accounting: All expenses should be approved by the Department Chair and should be within budget.
• •Collaborative Culture: Attend production meetings and meet with faculty as requested.

Requirements

• •Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical theatre preferred
• •Experience in sound design, lighting design, carpentry, and scenic painting
• •Strong communication and organizational skills
• •Ability to work well in teams
• •Ability to lift 50+ pounds with or without assistance, work on ladders and platforms, and stand for extended periods
