• Location Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire
• Salary up to £45,000, depending on experience
• Hybrid working 3 days/week on-site

We're looking for a Technical Author to join our team and help shape the user experience of our Intelligent Metrology software portfolio, MODUS IM.

MODUS IM is a suite of inspection software applications that work together to support programmers, operators, data analysts, and automation engineers. Its modular architecture allows us to create tailored solutions for a diverse range of manufacturing and metrology environments.

As a Technical Author, you'll be responsible for creating, managing, and delivering high-quality user documentation across the MODUS IM product range. Working closely with software engineers, product owners, and support teams, you'll ensure that our customers receive clear, accurate, and effective guidance that helps them get the most from our software.

Responsibilities

• •Create, edit, and maintain user-facing documentation, including Help systems, release notes, datasheets, and supporting technical content.
• •Apply best-practice authoring techniques to develop topic-based, modular, and reusable content.
• •Structure and organise documentation to meet the needs of various user groups.
• •Collaborate with product owners, subject matter experts, support teams, and software developers to ensure that content is accurate, complete, and easy to understand.
• •Follow and contribute to documentation standards, style guides, terminology, and processes.
• •Review and advise on user-facing text within software applications.
• •Manage localisation activities, including localisation engineering processes and language pack verification.

Key requirements

• •An interest in technical writing within an engineering or software environment.
• •Excellent written communication skills.
• •The ability to understand complex technical concepts and explain them clearly and concisely. Unnecessary
• •Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues across teams and locations.
• •Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• •A positive attitude towards feedback and continuous improvement.
• •An interest in multilingual content and localisation processes.
• •Experience creating technical documentation or user assistance content.

Desirable requirements

• •Experience working with software development teams or engineering products.
• •Knowledge of structured authoring, content reuse, or modern documentation practices.

The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a varied workload across multiple projects. You'll have strong interviewing and information-gathering skills, enabling you to work effectively with subject matter experts. You'll also have, or be keen to develop, an awareness of current trends and best practices in technical communication.
