Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide hands-on technology support across our campus. In this role, you'll help ensure that the computers, devices, applications, and technology systems used by our employees, clinicians, and researchers are operating smoothly and efficiently.

From troubleshooting complex technical issues to implementing new technologies and supporting critical clinical environments, you'll play an important role in helping our teams deliver exceptional patient care, groundbreaking research, and everyday operational excellence.

The starting annual salary for this position is $74,770 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.

  • What You'll Do:
  • As a Technical Support Specialist, you will:
  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, software applications, and peripheral equipment across the organization.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows, macOS, and iOS devices.
  • Support printers, scanners, barcode scanners, webcams, headsets, and other technology tools used throughout the campus.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
  • Respond to service requests and incidents while providing exceptional customer service and clear communication.
  • Coordinate technology installations, upgrades, and deployments to minimize disruption for end users.
  • Support technology projects from planning through implementation.
  • Work directly with employees to provide one-on-one technical assistance and training.
  • Document issues, solutions, and project updates through established IT service management processes.
  • Collaborate with networking, cybersecurity, telecommunications, infrastructure, and application support teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Assist with testing and evaluating new hardware, software, and technology solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve technology performance and recommend equipment upgrades when appropriate.
  • Serve as a hands-on technology resource during implementations, transitions, and system rollouts.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to help ensure critical technology support is available when needed.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate across technical disciplines.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

  • 1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management/Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in Desktop/Systems support; or
  • 2. Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Management/Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in Desktop/Systems support; or
  • 3. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time experience in Desktop/Systems support.
  • NOTE:
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
