About the Role
The HARMAN Research team is looking for a Technology Manager to turn research into business impact in close collaboration with R&D teams. Reporting to the Technology Strategy Director, you will manage a defined portfolio of research technologies and build relationships with product, engineering, and business leaders. You will develop a clear view of each business’s technology priorities and roadmaps, and then use those insights to shape research priorities and inform HARMAN’s technology strategy. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role for someone who combines technology judgment, business understanding, product management discipline, and cross-functional influence. Success means we align on the right priorities so that technologies reach products faster with measurable business value.
What You Will Do
- Connect research with business priorities: Build relationships with product, engineering, and business leaders across Harman. Translate customer and roadmap needs into clear opportunities and priorities for HARMAN Research.
- Manage a defined technology portfolio: Maintain a current view of strategic fit, maturity, product relevance, and business sponsorship for the technologies under development. Act as a liaison to receiving business teams to maintain visibility and buy-in.
- Lead technology transfer: Establish the target product or platform, receiving business owner, readiness criteria, validation evidence, integration plan, and handoff for selected technologies. Stay engaged until ownership is accepted or an explicit stop decision is made.
- Build adoption across Harman: Use evidence, demonstrations, and clear communication to align research, product, engineering, and business leaders around technology opportunities.
- Build a scalable technology intelligence system: Create a structured, AI-connected view of HARMAN Research and business technology roadmaps to identify gaps, dependencies, and opportunities. Apply these insights to improve prioritization and decision-making.
What You Need to Be Successful
Essential
- A degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Significant relevant experience, typically at least five years, in technology management, technical product management, technology strategy, portfolio management, or technology transfer.
- Evidence of carrying advanced technology from research or prototype into business adoption.
- Technology fluency and business sense to assess maturity, product fit, and integration dependencies.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with demonstrated influence across research, product, engineering, business, and executive audiences without relying on formal authority.
- Fluency with modern AI tools with appropriate attention to source and output quality and when human judgment is critical.
Preferred
- Experience across more than one HARMAN market or technology domain, such as automotive or consumer and professional audio.
- Experience with advanced research portfolios, technology transfer, or technology adoption across multiple products and platforms.
- Experience working across business units and international teams.
- Experience supporting external technology or partner evaluations in coordination with strategy, legal, procurement, and business owners.
- An advanced degree or relevant business training. Demonstrated product and business impact matters more than credentials alone.

- Extensive training opportunities through HARMAN University.
