About Design Technology at DLR Group

DLR Group’s Design Technology team advances the digital practice of design across our integrated architecture, engineering, and interiors teams. The team supports and develops the technologies, standards, workflows, and tools that enable our designers to work more effectively and solve increasingly complex challenges.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in digital practice, research and development, and client-facing digital services, with capabilities spanning BIM, computational design, reality capture, GIS, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital review, connected BIM, and design visualization.

Position Summary

As a Technology Project Manager – Design Technology at DLR Group, you will lead the definition and coordination of technology projects that support our community of architects, interior designers, and engineers. Blending project management with product thinking, you will work with stakeholders to identify business needs, define requirements, shape project scope, and prepare solutions for development. This role is ideal for a strategic, collaborative leader who can translate complex workflows into clear, actionable technology initiatives.

What You Will Do

Partner with architects, interior designers, engineers, and practice leaders to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities for new or improved technology solutions

Define project goals, problem statements, requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Design Technology initiatives

Develop project scope, schedules, resource needs, and delivery plans while identifying trade-offs related to cost, timing, and functionality

Create development-ready project packages, including user workflows, wireframes or mockups, data requirements, dependencies, and supporting documentation

Collaborate with software developers early in the process to validate technical feasibility, clarify requirements, and support project estimating

Identify project risks and dependencies across IT, data, security, and other business functions and develop appropriate mitigation plans

Serve as the primary point of contact for requirements clarification as projects move from discovery and design into development

Coordinate user acceptance testing, release readiness, stakeholder communication, and launch activities

Manage changes in project scope and communicate impacts to timelines, resources, and delivery expectations

Establish and maintain project management, requirements, and documentation standards while supporting team members in managing smaller technology initiatives

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in technology, information systems, business, or a related field

At least 5 years of professional experience managing IT, software development, or technology implementation projects

Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria

Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedules, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations

Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies

Experience collaborating with software development teams and technical stakeholders

Proficiency with project and work management platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Planner, or similar tools

Experience with wireframing, process mapping, or diagramming tools such as Figma, Visio, Miro, or similar

Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple perspectives and develop practical solutions

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing enterprise-wide technology programs or software solutions

Experience leading cross-functional teams or coordinating work across multiple stakeholder groups

Familiarity with architecture, interior design, engineering, or other design-industry workflows

Familiarity with technologies and platforms commonly used in the AEC industry, including Revit, Rhino, BIM, or related tools

PMP, ITIL, or ITSM certification

Agile or product management certification, such as PMI-ACP, CSPO, or equivalent

Experience with product discovery, product ownership, or minimum viable product definition

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams

The suggested pay range for this position is:

Pay Range

$125,000 — $150,000 USD
