Toothpaste Formulation Specialist (PHD MUST)

Role & Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end formulation development for new toothpaste products—from concept ideation to lab-scale prototyping, stability testing, and scale-up readiness.

Design and validate formulations using active ingredients (fluoride, hydroxyapatite, enzymes, etc.) and functional excipients to meet performance, safety, and regulatory targets.

Optimize sensory attributes (flavor, texture, foam, aftertaste) while ensuring clinical efficacy in abrasion, remineralization, and enamel protection.

Collaborate with analytical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to translate lab prototypes into compliant, manufacturable, and shelf-stable commercial products.

Stay ahead of global trends: microbiome-friendly actives, natural surfactants, biodegradable polymers, and AI-assisted predictive formulation modeling.

Prepare technical dossiers, safety assessments, and patent documentation for new formulations.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or Material Science

Experience in oral care product R&D—specifically toothpaste, mouthwash, or gel-based dentifrices

Proficiency in formulation design using rheology modifiers, abrasives, surfactants, and enamel active agents

Hands-on with stability testing protocols (ICH, USP, ISO), accelerated aging, and challenge testing

Knowledge of global regulatory standards (FDA, EU, BIS, CDSCO) for oral care products

Experience with sensory evaluation panels and consumer testing methodologies

Preferred

Patent drafting experience in personal care or oral healthcare formulations

Familiarity with AI/ML tools for predictive formulation or ingredient synergy mapping

Background in microbiome research or probiotic oral care formulations
