Summary

About the Position: Serves as a Traffic Management Specialist performs a variety of duties in support of exercises and readiness such as planning, developing and coordinating doctrinal reviews/updates related to transportation management. Located at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

Duties

• •Liaising directly with external and internal clients to assess their needs and improve the responsiveness of services.
• •Actively meeting with customers and service providers to assess operational challenges, provide guidance, and resolve broad problems.
• •Anticipates emergency scenarios (identifying potential problems), determines logistical needs, generates alternative operational concepts, and recommends optimal courses of action.
• •Obtains desired transportation information from appropriate sources, organizes data into usable format for analysis on management information systems.
• •Plans and coordinates international movements of cargo and passengers via multiple modes of transport while evaluating timeliness, physical limits, and cost-effectiveness.
• •Directs intermodal transportation and coordinates with specific carrier types (ocean, air, truck, barge, rail) to move diverse, hazardous, or sensitive freight globally.

Specialized Experience Statement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which includes 1.) primary liaison and technical advisor to coordinate domestic and international cargo and passenger movements across multiple transportation modes; 2.) Providing technical direction, scheduling, and oversight for commercial rail and specialized defense fleets, ensuring strict compliance with safety rules; 3.) Monitoring and evaluating carrier performance. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Problem Solving Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
