What We Look For:
The successful candidate will evaluate and underwrite small business loan applications in accordance with the company’s credit policies, procedures, and risk appetite. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail. The underwriter will assess complex financial information, evaluate credit risk, structure appropriate loan terms, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations while supporting the company’s growth, profitability, and portfolio performance goals.
What You’ll Do:
Underwrite small business loan applications in accordance with established credit policies, procedures, and risk guidelines.
Analyze financial statements, bank statements, tax returns, application data, and business and personal credit reports.
Evaluate applicant creditworthiness, identify potential risks, and structure loans within established guidelines.
Make well-supported credit decisions while balancing risk, customer needs, growth, and profitability.
Clearly document underwriting decisions and rationale.
Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by your manager.
What We Look For:
2+ years of Underwriting experience, ideally within a fintech company, bank, or other financial institution.
Small business lending experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of credit fundamentals within a commercial lending environment; formal credit training is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Sound judgment and the ability to evaluate complex financial information.
A collaborative mindset and strong written and verbal communication skills.
This role is also eligible to earn annual performance-based incentive compensation in the form of a cash bonus. At Bluevine, we recognize the importance of fair and competitive compensation. Exact compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including your experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as market trends.

$61,900 — $74,100 USD
