Description

At Veterinary Emergency Hospital Midlothian (VEHM), we don't do boring routine checkups. No flea updates, no standard vaccines. We are a fast-paced, privately owned, 24/7 ER saving pet lives when the rest of the world is asleep. We treat our team like family and our patients like royalty.

Our expectations are simple but high. You will bring your skills, your empathy, and your drive to every shift. You will perform your duties in alignment with our medical protocols and stand tall on our 4 Pillars —the ultimate foundation for how we treat our patients, our clients, and each other.

Why You’ll Love the Night Shift

  • Skip the Traffic: Commute when the roads are less traveled
  • Shift Differentials: Increase your earning potential by anchoring our overnight team
  • Real Impact: Be the calm voice and warm smile for worried pet parents in their hour of need.

Your Role as Front Desk Hero

  • The Welcome: Greeting stressed pet parents (and their furry sidekicks) with empathy.
  • The Switchboard: Managing phones, transferring calls, and keeping calm under pressure.
  • The Logistics: Handling check-ins, updating intake boards, and keeping medical teams synced.
  • The Cashier: Processing payments cleanly (Cherry, CareCredit, ScratchPay, etc.).
  • The Sanctuary: Keeping our lobby clean, stocked with snacks, and welcoming.

Physical Requirements and Workplace Environment

Veterinary medicine is rewarding but it is physically demanding. Candidates must be able to meet the following operational needs with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Mobility - Ability to stand, walk and bend frequently throughout long shifts
  • Lifting - Ability to lift up to 40lbs independently and use teamwork for heavier patients.
  • Sensory Tolerance : Ability to navigate high-stimulus environments with loud barking and strong odors
  • Resilience - Ability to manage occasional scratches and handle interactions with highly emotional clients

The Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: Plus shift differentials and and opportunities for overtime in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and access to the Wellhub wellness app.
  • Future Planning: 401(k) with an employer match.
  • Time Off: Generous PTO to rest, recharge, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Pet Perks: Substantial discounts on care for your own fur babies.
