Duties

• •Perform electronic and mechanical maintenance and repairs on combat vehicle systems.
• •Isolate faults across electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro mechanical components.
• •Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
• •Perform functional tests on turret related components, including electrical, mechanical, pneudraulic, electro optical, and fire control systems.
• •Determine repair requirements and apply electronic theory to select the most effective methods, techniques, and tools.

Qualifications

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Weapon Systems Mechanic (Direct Hire Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Weapons Systems Mechanic duties which include repairing, overhauling, modifying, testing, and maintaining weapons systems and associated components. I am skilled at troubleshooting techniques to identify malfunctions in combat vehicle weapon systems and associated components; conducting tests and check calibration of instruments using special tools, fixtures, collimating equipment, and other hand tools and equipment; installing and diagnosing electrical, electronic, electro-hydraulic, and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies of combat vehicles. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. Employee is expected to climb onto equipment, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel and stand for extended periods of time. Works, as required, in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally work in high places may be required.. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Exposed to dirt, grease, dust, exhaust fumes, and high noise levels. Subject to the possibility of injury such as cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, and falls from equipment. Work may be performed outside in inclement weather. Required to wear safety equipment/clothing as prescribed for the area in which work is being performed.
