• The Welding Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all welding activities within an ASME Code fabrication facility, ensuring compliance with applicable codes (ASME BPVC Section VIII/IX, B31.3, etc.), company quality programs, and safety standards. This role manages welding personnel, enforces welding procedures, and ensures all fabrication meets customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and production schedules.
• JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Supervise daily welding activities for pressure vessels, piping, and structural assemblies.
• •Assign work, prioritize tasks, and monitor productivity to meet fabrication schedules.
• •Coordinate manpower, equipment, and consumables to support efficient workflow.
• •Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and welding related issues.
• •Ensure all welding complies with ASME Section IX, ASME Section VIII, B31.3, and applicable AWS requirements.
• •Verify proper use of qualified Welding Procedures (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• •Ensure welds meet code requirements, engineering drawings, and acceptance criteria prior to inspection.
• •Monitor weld quality and workmanship through process inspections.
• •Coordinate with QA/QC and NDE personnel for RT, UT, PT, and MT inspections.
• •Ensure traceability of materials, weld maps, welding records, and ASME documentation.
• •Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld defects.
• •Enforce safety procedures related to hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, OSHA requirements, and plant policies.
• •Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• •Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate welders and fitters while promoting continuous improvement and skills development.
• •Interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, weld symbols, and specifications.
• •Provide technical guidance on SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
• •Ensure proper joint fit up, preheat and interpass temperature control, and PWHT requirements.
• •Troubleshoot welding defects, distortion, and metallurgical issues.
• •Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Project Management, Client Representatives, and Authorized Inspectors.
• •Support audits, client inspections, code compliance reviews, and communicate project progress, issues, and risks to management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• •High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.
• •5 to 10+ years of welding experience in pressure vessel, piping, or heavy industrial fabrication.
• •2 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a fabrication shop.
• •Strong experience working under ASME Section VIII, Section IX, and B31.3 code requirements.
• •AWS Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), OSHA 10/30 certification, or equivalent certifications preferred.
• •Strong knowledge of welding codes, materials, fabrication processes, and quality standards.
• •Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld maps, specifications, and fabrication drawings.
• •Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• •Quality focused with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• •Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and heavy equipment, including extended hours as needed to meet production schedules.
