Wellness Program Coordinator

Summary

This position is located in the Wellness Center within Division of Community Health Services at the Crownpoint Service Unit, Crownpoint New Mexico. The purpose of the position is to lead in integrating comprehensive and cost-effective wellness and prevention strategies into current business and clinical practices, promoting patient self-management to improve the health of the patient population. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Duties

Coordinates with program staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs and training including youth programs and local community recreation fitness programs. Coordinates curriculum development for patient education and health promotion classes. Oversees health promotion processes and supports health promotion liaison personnel. Functions as team leader, responsible for coordinating the efforts of the hospital in implementing integrated and comprehensive health promotion programs and policies. Coordinates marketing and media support for events.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-9: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, in a field that is directly related to the work of the position. OR Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-7 Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assisting with the administration, coordination, and delivery of a Wellness Center Program; communicating with participants, patients, and professional staff regarding wellness, fitness, and exercise activities; applying knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, basic nutrition, and exercise science to support health and fitness programs; and assisting with the development, delivery, and evaluation of safe and effective exercise programs for individuals and groups. Experience includes providing guidance on proper exercise techniques, monitoring participant activities, maintaining a safe exercise environment, and supporting wellness initiatives designed to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-09 grade level. GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-9 Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Promoting, administering, managing, and coordinating a Wellness Center Program; communicating with patients and professional staff; and knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, basic nutrition, and exercising science. In addition, being able to create, deliver, and service as an advisor for implementing safe and effective exercise programs for individuals and groups. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-11 grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
