Make a Difference Behind the Scenes—and in the Lives of Students
New River Community and Technical College is seeking a highly organized, dependable, and student-focused Administrative Associate to join the Division of Allied Health, Nursing, and Natural Sciences.
This position provides essential administrative support to the Dean, program directors, faculty, staff, and students across a diverse group of academic programs. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes pride in providing exceptional service, and can confidently manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
This is more than an administrative position. Your work will help faculty and program leaders focus on educating and preparing students for careers in high-demand fields. You will serve as an important resource for students and a key partner in keeping academic programs organized and successful.
What You’ll Do
As the Administrative Associate, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the division, including:
Support Students and Faculty
Provide welcoming, professional service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors in person, by phone, and electronically.
Respond to questions, provide information, and direct individuals to the appropriate resources.
Maintain student records, files, transcripts, and other program documentation.
Assist faculty and program staff with administrative needs, including copying, filing, correspondence, and document preparation.
Support textbook orders and other instructional needs.
Support the Dean and Program Leadership
Manage and coordinate the Dean’s calendar, appointments, meetings, and correspondence.
Prepare correspondence, reports, documents, presentations, and other materials.
Schedule departmental meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes.
Assist Program Directors and the Dean with maintaining records and documentation required for program accreditation.
Assist with accreditation activities and special projects as assigned.
Keep Programs Running Smoothly
Assist with class scheduling, room assignments, and other academic scheduling activities.
Enter, retrieve, and maintain information in Banner and other College systems.
Work with the Business Office regarding financial matters, purchasing, and program-related transactions.
Order supplies and prepare purchase requisitions.
Assist with new-hire paperwork and onboarding documentation for Human Resources.
Maintain program handbooks, policies, procedures, and other student-facing materials.
Support Program and Community Engagement
Coordinate and provide administrative support for program Advisory Committee meetings, including scheduling, meeting preparation, and minutes.
Assist with commencement activities and program pinning ceremonies.
Support program-related community events and activities.
Attend College and departmental meetings as required.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related applications.
Excellent keyboarding and data-entry skills.
The ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.
The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
The ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet short-, mid-, and long-term deadlines.
Flexibility and sound judgment when responding to changing priorities and non-routine situations.
A dependable, self-motivated approach to work.
A genuine commitment to serving students and supporting the College community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Associate degree in Business or a related field.
Experience:
Two or more years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be considered.
License:
Valid driver's license.
