Job Description

Why this role matters

Every artwork change sits at the intersection of multiple requirements – Regulatory, technical elements, Supply Chain, packaging and business.

As an Artwork Strategist, you help ensure those requirements come together correctly before artwork is executed.

Your judgement and ability to identify issues early will directly contribute to compliant, timely and right-first-time artwork delivery, supporting Amgen products and patients around the world.

What you will do

As an Artwork Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in translating Amgen's labelling and implementation strategies into artwork projects that are ready for successful implementation by the artwork executional team.

Sitting at the intersection of Regulatory, Supply Chain, Packaging and Artwork, you will ensure that the strategy for implementing product launches and labelling variations is sound and that the information provided to our Artwork Designers and Reviewers is accurate, complete and ready for execution.

This is not simply an artwork coordination role. You will be expected to connect the dots, ask the right questions, challenge where something does not look right and proactively drive issues to resolution.

You will support products and markets globally and work with a broad network of colleagues across Amgen.

Your key responsibilities

You will:

  • Participate in artwork implementation strategies for product launches, labelling variations and lifecycle changes, ensuring regulatory and Supply Chain implementation requirements are correctly translated into artwork execution.
  • Assess artwork readiness, ensuring Designers and Reviewers receive accurate, complete and consistent inputs before artwork activities begin.
  • Bring together and reconcile inputs from multiple functions, including Regulatory Operations, Supply Chain Project Management, Packaging Engineering, Master Data Management, Serialization and HFE-ID.
  • Identify missing, conflicting or unclear requirements and proactively work with stakeholders to resolve them before they impact artwork execution.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple artwork projects, ensuring activities progress in time to achieve required artwork start dates and business milestones.
  • Support artwork projects through the applicable stages, including test artworks, mock-ups and master artworks, ensuring the agreed implementation strategy is maintained throughout execution.
  • Apply your understanding of packaging sites, packaging lines, regulatory requirements and Supply Chain processes when assessing artwork implementation approaches.
  • Support product launches and labelling variations across global regions, whilst maintaining sufficient cross-regional knowledge to provide effective back-up when required.
  • Represent Global Artwork in cross-functional projects and contribute to improvements in artwork processes, systems and automation.

What we are looking for

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy working in a complex environment where there is not always a straightforward answer.

We are looking for someone who can absorb information from several sources, understand how the pieces fit together and recognize when something is missing or inconsistent. You are comfortable speaking up, constructively challenging assumptions and influencing stakeholders to reach the right outcome.

You will bring:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering, Packaging, Pharmaceutical Operations or a related field.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and priority-setting capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple activities and changing business needs.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership for progressing issues to resolution.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures and geographies.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred experience

9+ years of experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology or another regulated industry.
  • Pharmaceutical labelling variations and lifecycle management.
  • Pharmaceutical packaging, packaging operations or packaging lines.
  • Regulatory, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • Artwork or labelling operations.
  • GMP-regulated environments.
  • Product launches and lifecycle changes.
  • Artwork systems, digital workflows or automation.
  • Working within a global organization.
