Description

Palmer, AK | Buick | GMC | Iconic American Brands | Flat-rate | GM technician | ASE certified | Alaska | Matanuska-Susitna Valley | Veterans encouraged to apply | $60,000 - $140,000/yr flat rate

IS THIS YOU?

You're an experienced flat-rate technician with strong diagnostic ability and a quality standard you don't compromise on -- regardless of who's watching

You have GM, domestic, or import brand experience and you know how to work efficiently and accurately in a market where vehicles are put to the test every day

You're looking for a meaningful role in a tight-knit Alaska community where your skills are valued, your earnings reflect your output, and your neighbors depend on the work you do

WHO WE ARE

Swickard Auto Group is a hospitality company that happens to sell and service cars. We believe the best guest experiences start with the best employee experiences. That's why we've grown to 40+ rooftops across the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii while maintaining a culture built on one simple idea: do right by people, every time.

Swickard Buick GMC of Palmer serves the Matanuska-Susitna Valley -- a community where vehicles aren't a luxury, they're essential. The roads are demanding, the seasons are unforgiving, and the technicians who keep Palmer's vehicles running earn the lasting respect of the neighbors they serve. We're looking for an experienced flat-rate technician who brings the diagnostic depth and work ethic to match what this market demands.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Diagnose and repair Buick and GMC vehicles across a full range of systems -- engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, suspension, HVAC, four-wheel drive, and beyond -- using GM diagnostic platforms and OEM procedures

Perform multi-point inspections and develop accurate repair plans -- communicating findings clearly to service advisors to support guest authorization

Execute repairs to GM factory specifications with speed, accuracy, and zero shortcuts

Complete repair orders accurately -- documenting all work performed and parts used with precision

Stay current on GM technical service bulletins, software updates, and manufacturer repair procedures

Perform test drives to validate diagnostic conclusions and confirm repair quality before vehicle return

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation throughout every shift

Contribute to a shop culture where quality, accountability, and craftsmanship are the baseline

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

2+ years of flat-rate technician experience in a franchised dealership -- required

GM or domestic brand experience strongly preferred -- Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Ford, Ram, or similar backgrounds a strong advantage; import technicians with strong fundamentals welcome

Strong diagnostic foundation -- able to work through multi-system problems accurately and efficiently, including 4WD and Alaska-specific wear patterns

GM diagnostic platform experience -- GDS2 or equivalent preferred

ASE certifications a strong plus -- GM factory certifications highly valued

Low comeback rate and a quality standard you own

Physically capable of performing the demands of the role throughout the shift in Alaska conditions

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

WHAT WE OFFER

$60,000 - $140,000/yr flat rate -- based on experience, certifications, and diagnostic capability

Progressive pay plan -- GM factory certifications and tenure increase your rate over time

Paid GM manufacturer training and certification support

Medical, dental, and vision insurance

Life insurance and supplemental coverage options

401(k) plan

Paid time off and paid holidays

Modern facility with current GM diagnostic tools and technology

Clear career path -- strong technicians grow into senior tech, shop foreman, and service management roles at Swickard

Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts
