About The Team

The Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) is a national Core Facility for high-resolution metabolic phenotyping and translational bioscience. Based within the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Perth’s Murdoch Health Precinct, the Centre integrates advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry, automation and bioinformatics platforms to support industrial-scale biological analysis and population-scale phenotyping at the interface of research, healthcare and industry. The ANPC is a key platform within Murdoch University’s Health Futures Institute.

The Centre supports research across a broad range of disciplines, including precision medicine and human health, population health and epidemiology, chronic disease prevention, nutrition and metabolic health, agriculture and food systems, environmental science, and systems biology research.

Your New Role!

Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation, the Centre Director provides strategic, scientific and operational leadership for the Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC). The role is responsible for setting the Centre’s vision and direction, maximising the impact of its infrastructure, and positioning the Centre as globally recognised leader in precision health, translational bioscience and population-scale discovery.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and technical specialists, drive intentionally competitive research programs, secure major research investment, and support the translation of research outcomes into clinical, public health, commercial and societal impact.

Murdoch University welcomes expressions of interest from Associate Professors, recently appointment Professors and equivalent research leaders seeking to broaden their impact through the leadership of a nationally significant research capability.

Your key responsibilities will include –

  • Provide strategic, scientific and operational leadership for ANPC, setting the Centre’s vision and direction and maximising the impact of its research infrastructure
  • Drive internationally competitive research programs and secure major research investment to advance prevision health, phenomics and translational research
  • Build strategic partnership across academia, healthcare, government, and industry to support research translation and impact

What We Offer You!

This, Fixed Term (5 Years) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts the following remuneration:

  • $217,824.00 (pro rata) at the Academic Level E plus 17% employer superannuation contributions, potential market loading will be considered for the right candidate

  • $169,509.00 to 186,557.00 (pro rata) at the Academic Level D plus 17% employer superannuation contributions, potential market loading will be considered for the right candidate

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as biomedical science, health and medical research, metabolomics, systems biology, population health, bioinformatics, precision health or a closely related field.
  • Internationally recognised expertise in precision health, metabolomics, phenomics, systems biology or a related biomedical discipline
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale translational, clinical, cohort, epidemiology or multidisciplinary research programs
  • A strong track record in securing competitive research funding and developing internationally competitive research programs
  • Proven ability to translate research outcomes into clinical, public health, policy, industry, innovation or commercial applications with evidence of national and/or international research impact
  • Ability to undertake domestic and international travel and work across Murdoch University campuses, the Australia National Phenome Centre (ANPC), partner organisations and clinical and research precincts as required
  • Ability to work within laboratory, clinical, cohort and research environments to support research programs and strategic initiative
