Description
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a strategic executive responsible for developing and executing Alabama Credit Union's technology strategy in alignment with its strategic plan, business objectives, and member needs. The CIO leads the technology department through a team of senior technology leaders, providing strategic direction, accountability, and leadership across core banking technology, enterprise applications, network and infrastructure, data management, automation and RPA, IT operations, project management, and technology services.
The CIO ensures Alabama Credit Union maintains a secure, reliable, scalable, resilient, and innovative technology environment that enables exceptional member experiences, operational efficiency, business growth, and organizational agility. This position serves as a strategic technology advisor to the CEO, strategic leadership team, and Board of Directors, translating business priorities into technology strategies, investments, and solutions that create measurable value for Alabama Credit Union and its members.
The CIO works collaboratively across the organization, partnering with Digital Services, Operations, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Lending, Finance, and other business functions to ensure technology enables a seamless, integrated, and secure experience for members and team members.
Requirements
Experience: Ten plus years of progressive technology leadership experience, including five plus years in a senior executive or enterprise technology leadership role. Experience within a credit union, bank, financial services, or other highly regulated environment strongly preferred. Proven experience developing and executing enterprise technology strategies, leading transformation initiatives, managing technology investments, and evaluating emerging technologies.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Industry Knowledge:
- Ability to analyze data, reading and creating reports with numerous software platforms
- Advanced understanding of Credit Union products and services, as well as competitor and potential products and services
- Understands the needs of the business, align with the strategic roadmap and integrate, coordinate and facilitate complex resources in fast paced, agile format
Leadership Skills:
- Excellent supervisory skills, with the ability to delegate some supervisory functions
- Professional presentation and the ability to maintain a calm demeanor under potentially stressful circumstances
- Strong project management skills, to include multi-departmental initiatives that may require significant resource investment in learning new data analytics techniques and procedures
- The ability to gather buy-in and drive completion of projects that affect multiple areas of the organization
- The ability to use discretion in the sharing of information is required, including the highest degree of confidentiality with information that is not to be disclosed according to law and/or ACU policy
- Ability to independently travel, occasionally overnight.
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of cloud technologies, network infrastructure, and design and general systems administration
- Experience in driving digital transformation across the enterprise with proven tools such as robotics process automation or artificial intelligence is preferred.
