The Northville District Library is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual to join our Circulation Services team in a part-time role.
Position Overview:
Hours: 21 Hours per week, including some weekends and evenings.
Classification: Union position.

Essential Qualifications:
Customer Service: Deliver positive, welcoming, and professional service to the public at the Circulation Desk.
Visitor Support: Answer incoming calls and accurately direct visitors and callers to the appropriate public service desks.
Circulation Management: Check library materials in and out efficiently using the integrated library system.
Account Processing: Issue new library cards and maintain patron accounts in accordance with library policy.
Financial Transactions: Handle monetary transactions with accuracy.
Collection Care: Monitor incoming materials for damage or missing pieces, taking appropriate action to update item status.
Resource Sharing: Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan materials.
Logistics & Sorting: Sort and distribute daily delivery items.
Administrative Support: Assist with database maintenance and contribute to special departmental projects.
General Operations: Perform other related duties and administrative tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Windows OS and common office equipment is preferred. Experience with cash registers and credit card terminals is a plus.
Critical Thinking & Adaptability: Learn quickly and accurately while strictly following instructions and exercising sound judgment.
Time Management: Prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet daily operational needs.
Collaborative Autonomy: Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Public Service Orientation: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a strong passion for helping and serving the public.
Problem-Solving & Communication: Communicate clearly and proactively seek assistance to resolve patron inquiries or handle conflicts professionally.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, or crouch.
Must have the ability to lift and move library supplies or media materials weighing up to 40 pounds and frequently push or pull loaded book carts throughout the facility.
