• Position Summary
• •Responsible for attending to the medication needs of the patients and provide drug information to patients, pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other hospital staff.

• Education
• •Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (Registered) or
• •Doctorate of Pharmacy (Clinical)

• Licenses and Certification
• •Illinois license of Pharmacy

(225 ILCS 85/6 – 225 ILCS 85/8; 68 IL ADC 1330.300 – 68 IL ADC 1330.350) States: "An applicant may work as a registered pharmacist for up to 60 days prior to the issuance of a certificate of registration upon receipt of a notice from the Division that the examination was successfully completed."

• •Technical Experience: N/A

• Role Specific Responsibilities
• •Maintains records, processes and monitors narcotic usage.
• •Reviews, interprets, and processes provider medication orders.
• •Prepares IV admixtures and other medications.
• •Educates staff on medication usage.
• •Educates patients on medication usage.
• •Oversees technician staff.
• •Monitors drug therapy, takes an active role in drug utilization , intervenes on the patients behalf as necessary, including conferring with providers and other caregivers about therapy, and documents those interventions.
• •Participates in community health related events.
• •Obtains and maintains competence in pharmacy, including assigned areas and required continuing education
• •Participates in work assignments at other SIH facilities.
