Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as project coordinator with full responsibility for the surveillance of assigned construction projects.

Duties

  • Serves as technical specialist for quality assurance and surveillance of construction.
  • Reviews final plans and specifications for construction feasibility and practical accomplishment, and interprets technical portions for other participants.
  • Provides oversight and inspection of construction operations to ensure proper quality and quantity of material and equipment, workmanship, adequacy of contractor's methods, etc.
  • Performs technical duties including review of shop drawings, preparing response to contractor inquiries, as well as, performing the following work related to contract modifications.
  • As Resident Office Safety Officer, responsible for the strict enforcement of safe practices and safety regulations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Perform inspection of construction projects for adherence to plans decided in the contract; AND 2) Review designs during planning stage of the contract; AND 3) Review safety requirements for strict adherence to all safety regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
