Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Drools Lead Developer to lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of enterprise-grade business rules solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Drools, Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, databases, and CI/CD , along with strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable business rules solutions using Drools .

Translate complex business requirements into reusable, maintainable, and effective rule-based solutions.

Design and implement rule authoring frameworks, decision tables, rule flows, and governance models .

Integrate Drools with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms .

Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, solution workshops, and code reviews.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.

Establish best practices for rule development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA, DevOps, and delivery teams.

Develop and maintain integrations with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL , and other relational databases.

Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment of rules and related services.

Troubleshoot production issues, rule execution problems, and performance bottlenecks.

Contribute to Kafka-based event-driven architectures and distributed systems .

Ensure adherence to coding, security, documentation, and governance standards.

Mandatory Skills

8+ years of software design and development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with Drools Rules Engine .

Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale business rules solutions.

Strong knowledge of rule authoring, decision tables, rule flows, and rule execution .

Strong experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST APIs .

Good understanding of OOP, design patterns, and software architecture.

Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL , or equivalent databases.

Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices .

Experience leading technical discussions and mentoring developers.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Ability to translate business requirements into effective rule-based solutions.

Good to Have

Camunda and DMN experience.

AWS, Azure, or GCP experience.

Kafka, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems .

Docker and Kubernetes.

Automated testing frameworks.

Experience in insurance, banking, payments, lending, or other regulated domains .

Relevant Java, cloud, or enterprise architecture certifications.

Preferred Profile

Strong technical leadership and solution-design capabilities.

Experience conducting design workshops and providing technical guidance.

Customer-facing and consulting experience.

Ability to influence technical decisions and drive effective delivery.
