Electrical Component Engineer

Job Description

About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Component Engineer, eager to integrate into our culture and be a key team contributor. This engineer will work with a team in the development of Robot and Automation System controls solutions. Key responsibilities will include working with a team on Component Engineering, lifecycle management and supply chain risk mitigation.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in component obsolescence management, SiliconExpert, BOM health analysis, alternate part qualification, and technical component evaluation. This role will work closely with Electrical Engineering, PCB Design, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers to ensure long-term product sustainability and component availability.

In a typical week, the priorities for the individual and the team are defined in our on-line project system. Long-term development projects will progress, a question or issue may arise from a customer or from our operations team requiring a quick investigation and response, input at multiple design reviews may be given, and hands on prototyping or testing may be done in our labs.

Work Location: Onsite - Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru .

Key Responsibilities:

Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently

Component Lifecycle management and identify risks related to End of Life (EOL), Product Change Notification (PCN), Last Time Buy (LTB) and supply chain disruptions

Perform lifecycle risk assessment using tools like SiliconExpert

Perform detailed Bill of Material (BOM) scrubs using SiliconExpert and supplier databases to identify Obsolete components, Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND) parts, single-source risks, compliance concerns and Supply chain vulnerabilities

Evaluate Alternate components for form, fit and function compatibility and create detailed technical comparison reports between original and alternate components

Familiarity with Agile and creating new components in Agile with consistency on part descriptions, technical parameters, manufacturer information, lifecycle data and compliance information

Compliance and Regulatory support including RoHS, REACH, Conflict materials and Tariffs.

Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Material Change Orders (MCOs)

Qualifications & Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field

3-5 years of hands-on experience on component engineering, SiliconExpert, Lifecycle management, BOM analysis and scrubbing and alternate component validation

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers

Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment and build productive relationships with stakeholders across multiple regions

Comfortable collaborating with geographically dispersed teams across different time zones

Flexible and willing to attend occasional early morning or evening calls to support global projects and stakeholders, including regular interaction with a U.S.-based manager and team members

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Occasional travel, #LI-MV1
