Position Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day housing facilities related assessment, emergencies, preventative drills, inspections, inventory management, and follow-up.

Salary & Benefits:

Minimum starting salary of $42,800, commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties:

  • Support institution/division/department mission, vision, and values.
  • Assess and maintain inventory and provide repair and replacement recommendations for items such as common area furniture/equipment, room/apartment furniture, and staff furniture.
  • Establish contacts and relationships with vendors for selection, ordering, installation, replacements, repairs, donations, and other maintenance of FFE in the housing system
  • Work with the Assignments Team to add and reduce sets of furniture based on occupancy needs.
  • Coordinate semesterly building walk-throughs and room/apartment inspections with Residence Life staff. Perform regular building inspections and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Report policy/procedure violations to appropriate staff and recommend edits to the HRL Community Living Standards to supervisor as appropriate.
  • Assist with damage and fee spreadsheet, updating and refining the list on a yearly basis
  • Coordinate and implement Health and Safety checks during Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Run point with GVPD, Allendale Fire, and Res. Life for fire drills on the Valley campus.
  • Assist with sustainability initiatives within housing for recycling and energy conservation.
  • Liaison to Facilities Services for floods, fire damage, mold, pest concerns, preventative maintenance, etc., connecting with residents, staff and contractors as appropriate.
  • Oversee the Winter Hall fitness center equipment; scheduling repairs, maintaining condition, and ordering replacement parts and machines as needed.
  • Assist with the opening and closing procedures relative to facility use, to include training on the completion of Housing Condition Summaries and auditing/assessment of building/unit damages.
  • Assist with IT inventory, tracking and removal.
  • Assist with Camps and Conference operations as able, utilizing student staff for furniture moves/adjustments, providing bins, hanging shower curtains, etc.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff, fostering a culture of mentorship and professional growth.
  • Instruct employees in proper receiving and delivery procedures as well as safety measures.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising team members.
  • Minimum of one year experience of related work experience and/or relevant training.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in creative problem solving.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of computer software applications (examples: SQBX, THD, Microsoft and Google programs).
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3+ years related work experience.
  • Experience working within a college or university housing setting.
  • Experience with GOFMX, Workday, and The Housing Director systems or equivalent.
  • Experience in facilities emergency response and resolution, including customer service and vendor coordination.
  • Experience with vendor relationship management.
