Alloy River builds agentic applied AI for finance and accounting. Accounting today is fragmented, manual, and reactive. We believe it should be intelligent, structured, and operationally decisive. Our mission is to transform finance from a slow, labor-intensive, reporting function into a real-time, strategic engine for profit and control.

We re-architected the general ledger from first principles, and layered automation, workflow orchestration, and applied AI directly into its core. Instead of accountants moving data between tools and managing checklists, our system produces outcomes, surfaces exceptions, and compounds leverage over time. This is not incremental improvement. It is a ground-up redesign of financial infrastructure for an AI-native world.

Role Overview

Alloy River acquires accounting firms and runs them on our platform. This role runs month-end close for those clients, and brings the accounting judgment that shapes what we build next. You'll close the books, map how each client's close actually works, and find the parts worth automating. This role is what lets us scale month-end across every firm we acquire, and turn what we learn from each client into a better product. For the right person, it is a rare path from running the close to shaping the software that automates it, building real AI and product fluency along the way.

What You'll Work On

Run month-end close for clients, some on our platform and some on legacy ledgers.

Interview clients to map their month-end process, and turn it into clear, repeatable SOPs.

Perform variance analysis and explain what the numbers are saying.

Handle ad hoc requests from clients.

Find inefficiencies in the close, and help automate what doesn't work.

Add input as the accounting voice for the product team, with clear feedback on what to build and how.

What We're Looking For

CPA designation.

3+ years of accounting experience.

Hands-on experience running month-end close and variance analysis.

Experience documenting financial processes, such as SOP's, process maps and/or close checklists.

Strong relationship skills. You'll work directly with clients and firm owners.

A real drive to improve processes, not just run them.

High work ethic.

Bonus experience includes:

Experience with QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Bilingual (French).

How We Work

You'll report to our Head of Deployment and work closely with her from day one.

Most of the work is month-end close, with some support on automation.

You don't need to be AI-forward yet. We'll teach you in the role.

Compensation & Location

This role pays $70,000-$85,000 CAD. This role is in-person full-time at our gorgeous office in Liberty Village, Toronto.
