Fresh Team Manager

Description

The Fresh Team Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across all Hana-operated fresh departments within an assigned Walmart location, including sushi, cut produce, and in-store meals (ISM). Reporting to the Area Manager, this position directly manages the Sushi Store Team Leader along with the cut produce and ISM team members, and works the production line daily, primarily in cut produce and ISM.

Key responsibilities include daily execution, scheduling, product ordering, food safety compliance, and the training and development of the fresh team. The role is accountable for sales and cost performance across all three departments, champions customer engagement, builds a strong working relationship with Walmart store leadership, and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment aligned with company standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• •Execute marketing strategies and operational improvements to maximize sales, including direct engagement with customers and Walmart partners.
• •Monitor and manage inventory, analyze profit and loss, and control waste and CM% to achieve department and store goals.
• •Train and develop team members to meet company standards, ensuring strong onboarding and alignment with company culture and values.
• •Follow established guidelines for quality, portion size, presentation, labeling, and food safety, including cold holding and temperature control.
• •Supervise, coach, and evaluate the Sushi Store Team Leader, ensuring the sushi kiosk meets company standards for quality, presentation, and food safety.
• •Supervise, coach, and evaluate cut produce and ISM team members, fostering skill development and performance growth.
• •Lead daily operations for cut produce and ISM, including production planning, assembly, portioning, merchandising, waste management, and food safety.
• •Work the cut produce and ISM production line daily, modeling speed, quality, and consistency.
• •Manage scheduling, labor, and product ordering across all three departments.
• •Model best-in-class execution of company standards and customer service expectations to drive overall department and store performance.
• •Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, conducting regular inspections to uphold corporate quality and food safety standards.
• •Build and maintain a positive partnership with Walmart store management.
• •Partner with the Area Manager on performance, goals, and development, and participate in structured leadership development programs, demonstrating ownership and accountability aligned with company values.

Requirements

• •3+ years in food service production; 1–2 years in leadership preferred.
• •Basic knife skills, including preparing fruit, vegetables, and prepared foods.
• •Sushi experience preferred.
• •Proven ability to deliver performance in CM%, waste control, merchandising, and customer service.
• •Experience managing multiple departments or product categories preferred.
• •Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills; fluent in English.
• •Valid food handler’s license with solid knowledge of food safety regulations, including cold food handling and temperature control.
• •Physical stamina to stand long periods and work in fast-paced environments.
• •Ability to stay composed under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• •Commitment to company mission, values, and professional customer interactions.

Physical Requirements:

• •Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including on retail floors and in production areas.
• •Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• •Ability to bend, reach, squat, and use hands and arms to handle materials, tools, or equipment.
• •Ability to work in environments that may include temperature variations, noise, and production activity typical of food production or retail operations.
• •Ability to perform repetitive motions and maintain physical stamina required for daily operational activities.
• •Ability to travel by car, air, and other means of transportation as required to meet business and customer needs, including overnight travel, as required by business.
