General Maintenance and Operations Leader

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel in the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Team Leader for ten or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work, within the Directorate of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, Buildings and Grounds Branch. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required at time of appointment.

Duties

• •Serves as Team Leader for ten or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.
• •Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and starts work (e.g. by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
• •Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
• •Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
• •Inspect ISO containers.
• •Climb ladders, scaffolds, and work from platforms. May work in cramped and awkward positions, reaches, bends, lifts while using tools, parts, and/or equipment.
• •Leads, coordinates, assigns, and reviews work of 10+ trades employees.
• •Ensures work methods, deadlines, and safety procedures are followed.
• •Provides on the spot guidance, demonstrations, and technical instruction.
• •Obtains materials, tools, and equipment to support work operations.
• •Monitors progress, resolves issues, and reports delays or training needs.
• •Works alongside crew performing journey-level tasks.
• •Ensures compliance with blueprints, specifications, and supervisory instructions.
• •Enforces safety, housekeeping, and equipment capacity rules.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) General Maintenance and Operations Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks such as: Lead the work of maintenance personnel. Assign work to plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Perform trade duties independently with solid knowledge of methods, techniques, and safety practices. Use standard trade techniques, accepted methods, and proper tools to perform maintenance, repair, installation and operational tasks. Operate shop equipment, mechanical tools, selected engineering or tractor equipment safely and efficiently. Read basic plans, sketches, technical manuals, work orders and apply them to accomplishing tasks. Troubleshoot routine mechanical, electrical, or structural issues. Practice work safety in various environmental conditions to include indoors/outdoors, confined spaces, and elevated platforms. Complete routine tasks efficiently with minimal assistance and produce work that meets trade standards. I have experience of a Maintenance Mechanic, Locksmith, Electrician, Pipefitter/Welder, Sheet Metal Mechanic, Plumber, Painter, General Maintenance and Repair Leader, Sign Painter Inspector, High Voltage Electrician, Material Handler (MVO), Tools and Parts Attendant, Carpenter, Painter. Selective Placement Factor This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. For the General Maintenance and Operations Leader you MUST HAVE A COMMERICAL DRIVER'S LICENSE (CDL) UPON APPOINTMENT TO THE POSITION. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifts objects from moderate to heavy weights. (Maximum weight of 50 lbs., anything over 50 lbs. will have assistance.) Climbs ladders, scaffolds, and work from platforms. May work in cramped and awkward positions, reaches, bends, lifts while using tools, parts, and/or equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions. Subject to exposure to dust and dirt, grease, fumes, noise, etc. Workers are also subject to cuts, burns, bruises, electrical shocks, etc. Safety equipment is provided to minimize hazards.
