Role Overview
As a Summer Intern, you will work as part of a project team to turn complex healthcare, financial, operational, and market data into insights that support major capital and real estate decisions. This is a hands-on opportunity for a strong analytical problem solver who is interested in building models, developing clear visualizations, and communicating findings that help healthcare leaders act decisively.
- Build analytical foundations: Support data integration, validation, financial analysis, and modeling under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Work with critical healthcare data: Analyze patient volumes, financial performance, utilization metrics, service line data, and other information needed to understand client challenges and opportunities.
- Deliver clarity from complexity: Help translate analyses into dashboards, models, and presentations that provide clear, data-driven answers for client teams and executive audiences.

Responsibilities
- Support the collection, integration, cleaning, and validation of large datasets from clinical, financial, operational, and market sources.
- Develop financial and operational analyses, including revenue, cost, margin, utilization, and performance trend analyses, with guidance from project leadership.
- Analyze healthcare-specific metrics such as patient volumes, length of stay, service lines, case mix, and facility utilization to identify business drivers and trends.
- Assist in developing financial models, business cases, ROI analyses, demand forecasts, and other decision-support tools for capital investments and strategic initiatives.
- Create clear charts, dashboards, and PowerPoint presentations that translate complex analysis into actionable insights for project teams and client leadership.
- Conduct research, document assumptions and methodologies, perform quality-control reviews, and support preparation of client deliverables.
- Collaborate with project team members and provide responsive, high-quality client service.
Requirements
Candidates should be strong academic performers, be interested in consulting and healthcare, and meet the following criteria:
- Pursuing a Master’s degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028 in Finance, Healthcare Administration, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better.
- Interest in healthcare financial analysis, strategy, capital planning, or real estate advisory.
- Interest in working with large, disparate datasets and developing analytical models.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Access, or statistical packages such as R, SAS, or SPSS is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate analysis into clear business insights and effectively document assumptions, methods, and findings.
- High level of initiative, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic team environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and provide excellent client service.
Logistical Requirements
- Please note that this role requires permanent authorization to work in the U.S. (i.e. U.S. citizen or permanent resident). Internships and full-time University Associate roles are not eligible for U.S. immigration sponsorship, work visa or any other temporary work authorization (i.e. OPT, CPT).
- Willingness to travel based on project needs and work overtime as requested.
Ankura is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role. A reasonable estimate of the current payrate range for this internship is: $40/hr. - $50/hr.
