Job Summary

In accordance with the Missio n, Core Values and Vision ; the Instructor functions within the mission and strategic plan of Mount Carmel College of Nursing. Primary function of this position is the instruction of Mount Carmel College of Nursing students. Evaluates and maintains academic records regarding the progress of students. Advises students in academic matters.

Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Education: Bachelor's degree in related discipline required (e.g., BSN). Master's degree in appropriate discipline preferred.

License / Certification : Must hold a current active unrestricted licensure in the State of Ohio, as applicable.

(For nursing faculty) CPR certification required with RN licensure, if applicable.

Experience:

A minimum of at least two years in the related field.

Teaching experience in collegiate or university setting preferred.

Experience in curriculum development preferred.

Effective Communication Skills

Active in professional and community organizations .

(For patient care providers) Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® .

(For nursing faculty) Functions in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing OAC 4723-5-19 Responsibilities of Faculty Teaching a Nursing Course and OAC 4723-5-20 Responsibilities of Faculty and Instructional Personnel in a Clinical Setting or other state regulations as amended.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for institutional diversity and cultural competence.

Responsible for the development, assessment, and revision of program curriculum in collaboration with other faculty and academic leadership.

Supervises, evaluates, and advises students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences .

Facilitates a learning and caring environment which encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for the uniqueness of each individual student

Maintains communication and oversees the activities of Clinical Instructors/Preceptors regarding course curriculum and student evaluations, if applicable.

Participates in professional activities, programs and professional organizations .

Participates in scholarly activities, either individually or collaboratively.

Maintains records according to college policies and processes ensuring adherence to FERPA and confidentiality standards

Participates in peer review

Participates in College and Faculty Assembly according to full-time/part-time employment status.

Attends required College functions.

Mentors new faculty.

Other Job Responsibilities

Serves on College committees as assigned.

Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and

promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.

All other duties as assigned.
