Banks Construction Company is looking for a dependable Light Equipment Operator to join our Grading Division. This is a great opportunity for someone with equipment experience who wants steady work, overtime opportunities, and a long-term career in heavy civil construction. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced grading crews on projects throughout the Charleston area, including commercial sites, highways, interstates, ports, and other major infrastructure projects.

About the Grading Division
Our Grading Division helps build the foundation for major construction projects. Grading crews prepare sites, move material, stabilize soil, support excavation work, and help create the base needed for roads, highways, commercial developments, and other heavy civil projects.
What You’ll Do
As a Light Equipment Operator, you’ll operate a variety of equipment and support daily grading operations on active jobsites.
You may operate equipment such as:
- Sweeper trucks
- Rollers
- Front-end loaders
- Backhoes
- Off-road trucks
- Other light grading equipment
You will also help with:
- Performing grading and sitework activities on heavy civil construction projects
- Operating equipment safely around crews, traffic, and active jobsites
- Preparing and stabilizing soil and other materials
- Using hand tools and power tools when needed
- Helping clean and prepare jobsites
- Digging trenches, setting braces, cleaning debris, and supporting excavation work
- Maintaining equipment and keeping it in good working condition
- Communicating with your crew to meet safety, production, and quality goals
- Assisting with other duties as directed by the site supervisor
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and ready to be part of a hardworking team.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has 2–3 years of equipment operating experience
- Has a valid driver’s license
- Has experience operating equipment on construction or sitework projects
- Is comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
- Takes safety seriously and pays attention to their surroundings
- Communicates well with crew members and supervisors
- Shows up on time and is ready to work each day
- Wants to continue learning and growing in the heavy civil construction industry
