Duties

• •Assign daily work to team members based on supervisory instructions and priorities.
• •Procure required blueprints, tools, and materials to prevent operational delays.
• •Inspect work in progress for compliance with technical procedures and quality standards.
• •Demonstrate proper machining techniques to guide personnel in meeting project deadlines.
• •Enforce safety regulations to ensure personnel safety
• •Report production status to supervisor for operational awareness.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist Leader without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Machinist Leader tasks such as working with various metals for fabrication; performing a wide range of welding processes; and operating a variety of machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, or drills. I work under supervision of a journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability to Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Physical Efforts: Required to stand, stoop, bend, reach and frequently required to handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 40 pounds; however, hoists, lifts, and other works are available to assist with heavier items. Working Conditions: Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with heated concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noise and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips or welding flame, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, and to strains from infrequent lifting or swinging of somewhat heavy items. Wears safety glasses, shoes and other equipment as required.
