Position Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineering Co-Op provides a hands-on learning opportunity for current college students or recent graduates pursuing an Engineering or Technical degree. This role offers practical experience in maintenance operations, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced aseptic food manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced maintenance professionals, the Co-Op will support equipment maintenance, reliability initiatives, and improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance while developing valuable technical and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

• •Hands-On Maintenance
• •Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems.
• •Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
• •Perform equipment inspections, calibrations, and routine maintenance under supervision.
• •Participate in safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and OSHA compliance activities.
• •Assist with equipment installation, startup, and commissioning projects.
• •Utilize the CMMS to enter, update, and close maintenance work orders.
• •Engineering & Improvement Projects
• •Lead assigned Co-Op projects from planning through completion, presenting recommendations and results to plant leadership.
• •Support preventive maintenance optimization, spare parts management, and equipment reliability initiatives.
• •Analyze maintenance performance data, including downtime, work orders, and OEE metrics, to identify improvement opportunities.
• •Participate in Kaizen events, 5S activities, root cause analysis, and other continuous improvement efforts.
• •Assist with developing and updating SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
• •Collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and Technical Services teams on projects that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• •Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• •Completion of at least one year of relevant coursework preferred.
• •Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems through coursework or hands-on experience.
• •Strong interest in manufacturing equipment and maintenance.
• •Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
• •Strong communication and presentation skills.
• •Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• •Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• •Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• •Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and inclusive team.
