Summary

Duties

  • Operate outboard vessel to transport personnel, material, and supplies.
  • Perform proper care and maintenance, of various vessel equipment and components.
  • Perform deckhand duties associated with a multipurpose vessel.
  • Serve as Signal operator for crane operations.
  • Serves as assistant / helper to the crane operator.
  • Perform carpentry work in constructing, maintaining, and replacing a variety of structures in or around navigable waters.
  • Assist with welding, mechanic work, flame cutting, and construction repair and replacement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifications - Candidates will be evaluated in accordance with OPM General Schedule (GS) Qualification Standards or Federal Wage System (FWS) Qualifications and Job Elements: FWS Qualifications: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/federal-wage-system-qualifications/#url=Job-Elements SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: Must included with your application packet to be considered for this position: Must possess and hold a Transportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC) Must possess and maintain STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) from US Coast Guard. Incumbent must possess and maintain an Able-Bodied Seaman endorsement from the Coast Guard.
