Manager, Markets & Investing Editorial Strategy

The Manager of Markets & Investing Editorial Strategy is responsible for transforming Vanguard's investment expertise, research, and market insights into distinctive thought leadership that helps financial advisors make better investment decisions and serve their clients more effectively.

This role serves as the strategic bridge between Vanguard's investment experts and the advisor audience, identifying the most compelling ideas, shaping narrative frameworks, and developing content platforms that bring coherence to the wide range of perspectives emerging from investment teams across the firm. The manager works upstream with researchers and thought leaders to uncover differentiated insights and translate complex concepts into engaging, actionable content that advances Vanguard's broader thought leadership agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Markets & investing thought leadership strategy

  • Establish the editorial pillars, themes, and narrative frameworks that define Vanguard's markets and investing thought leadership agenda for financial advisors.
  • Identify emerging advisor questions, market developments, and investment trends that create opportunities for timely and differentiated content.
  • Develop and evolve flagship thought leadership platforms focused on markets, portfolio construction, investment implementation, and advisor insights.
  • Ensure Vanguard's perspectives are relevant, actionable, and aligned with the needs of financial advisors and their clients.

Research and insight development

  • Bring greater coherence to the extensive research, commentary, and expertise developed across investment teams, including PRD, ISG, FIG, and other subject-matter experts.
  • Work directly with investment thought leaders, economists, portfolio specialists, and researchers to identify the strongest stories and most compelling insights.
  • Shape research concepts and content opportunities early in the development process to maximize relevance, engagement, and impact.
  • Translate complex investment thinking into clear, differentiated narratives that help advisors understand what matters, why it matters, and how they can respond.

Content development

  • Lead the development of articles, reports, point-of-view pieces, multimedia experiences, presentations, and other advisor-facing thought leadership.
  • Create distinctive content concepts that elevate Vanguard's intellectual capital beyond market commentary and toward advisor implementation and action.
  • Partner with writers, editors, designers, marketers, and content producers to ensure ideas are translated into high-quality execution.
  • Identify opportunities for net-new content, recurring franchises, and signature research initiatives that strengthen Vanguard's position as a trusted voice on markets and investing.

Platform leadership and integration

  • Guide the content strategy and narrative development for key advisor-facing markets and investing platforms and experiences.
  • Ensure consistency across thought leadership, digital experiences, events, media partnerships, and sales enablement materials.
  • Partner closely with the Editorial Strategy & Governance team to ensure markets and investing content contributes to the broader FAS editorial agenda and reinforces enterprise priorities.
  • Coordinate with practice management, AI, and advisor insights initiatives to create a more connected advisor experience across content offerings.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Build trusted relationships with senior investment leaders, researchers, strategists, and stakeholders across Vanguard.
  • Influence content priorities through strong editorial judgment and deep understanding of advisor needs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to strategists, writers, and content creators supporting the markets and investing agenda.
  • Champion high editorial standards, intellectual rigor, and audience-first thinking across all work.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in financial journalism, investment communications, editorial strategy, thought leadership, investment research, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction, investment products, and advisor business models.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex investment concepts into compelling narratives for professional audiences.
  • Strong editorial judgment and experience developing content platforms, research-based thought leadership, or media-quality content.
  • Proven success working with senior stakeholders, researchers, and subject-matter experts.
