We are seeking an experienced Manager of Human Resources to provide leadership and oversight of the agency’s human resources function during a maternity leave contract. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this is an autonomous HR leadership role with broad responsibility for HR operations, employee relations, organizational compliance, and related operational portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership & Employee Relations
Lead and oversee the agency’s full HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, leaves, accommodations, and offboarding.
Act as HR advisor to the Executive Director and Leadership Team, providing guidance on employee matters, organizational decisions, workplace practices, and HR risk.
Maintain regular communication and collaboration with the Executive Director, providing HR advice, updates, recommendations, and support on employee matters, organizational priorities, compliance, and emerging HR issues.
Provide HR consultation and support to managers and employees across the organization.
Manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace issues, accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
Interpret and apply Ontario employment legislation, organizational policies, and HR best practices.
Identify HR risks and recommend appropriate approaches, processes, and solutions.
Consult with external legal counsel and other professional advisors on complex employment matters when required.
Oversee employee changes including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, resignations, and terminations.
HR Operations, Compliance & Administration
Ensure the integrity and effective administration of employee records, HRIS information, employment documentation, and confidential personnel files.
Oversee benefits administration, including Health & Dental, EAP, and RRSP programs.
Coordinate biweekly payroll changes and information with Finance.
Monitor probationary periods, performance reviews, vacation entitlements, years of service, compensation movements, and other key employment milestones.
Ensure mandatory training, certifications, and compliance requirements are monitored and maintained
Oversee the effective use and administration of the agency’s HRIS and related HR technology.
Ensure HR processes are timely, accurate, consistent, and aligned with legislative and organizational requirements.
Recruitment, Student & Affiliate Programs
Lead recruitment activities across the organization, including workforce planning, job postings, candidate selection, offers, and onboarding.
Coordinate student placements and internal rotations.
Oversee affiliate recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and registration requirements.
Coordinate summer student and other placement programs.
Organizational Operations
In addition to the HR portfolio, the Manager of Human Resources provides oversight and coordination for key operational functions that support the effective day-to-day operation of the agency.
Coordinate employee IT requirements and liaise with the agency’s third-party IT provider.
Support Leadership with operational planning, problem-solving, and organizational initiatives as required.
What You Bring
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, HR Operations, HR Manager, or similar leadership role.
Demonstrated experience managing a broad HR portfolio
Experience with recruitment, employee relations, performance management, leaves and accommodations, benefits, payroll coordination, compliance, and HR administration.
Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
Experience managing HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records; BambooHR experience is an asset.
Able to manage sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and consistency.
Highly organized, resourceful, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable balancing strategic HR thinking with hands-on execution and administration.
Solutions-oriented, practical, and able to assess issues, identify risks, and determine appropriate courses of action.
Comfortable working with confidential information and exercising a high degree of discretion.
Position Details
- Job Type: One-year Contract | Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 35hrs per week.
- Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Pay Rate: $79,262 per annum. $43.55/hr.
Location : 1770 Langlois Ave.
