Mechanical Design Engineer (CATIA V6) - Automotive

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Basildon team to support our activities within the automotive engineering sector. 

You will play a key role in the design and development of automotive components and systems, supporting projects from concept through to production. In addition to delivering design solutions, you will act as a technical reference for CATIA V6, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers within the team.

• •Location: Basildon, Essex
• •On Site: Hybrid (minimum 3days per week on-site)
• •Clearance: SC clearable 
• •Experience Level: Mid - Senior Level (minimum 3year's CATIA V6 experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• •Develop mechanical designs and 3D models for automotive components and assemblies
• •Create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using CATIA V6
• •Support product development activities from concept through to production release
• •Participate in design reviews and engineering problem-solving activities
• •Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers on CATIA V6 best practices
• •Support design governance, configuration management, and change control activities

Required Skills:

• •Minimum 3 years of hands-on CATIA V6 experience in an engineering environment
• •Strong mechanical design engineering experience within the automotive sector
• •Ability to mentor and support other engineers in the use of CATIA V6
• •Experience creating and managing complex parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings
• •Good understanding of design for manufacture and engineering best practices
• •Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Required Qualifications:

• •A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering , or  equivalent   military experience .
• •Experience delivering mechanical design solutions within a product development environment
• •Demonstrable experience supporting projects from design through to release

Desirable Skills:

• •Experience using 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX)
• •Knowledge of automotive product development processes
• •Experience working within a PLM-managed environment
• •Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting junior engineers
