Occupational Therapist – Local Authority

Liquid Personnel is recruiting for experienced Locum Occupational Therapists to join its client's Local Authority Adult Social Care service in Stoke-on-Trent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an OT with Adult Social Care, community or complex care experience, supporting the service to review high-cost care packages, assess functional needs and identify opportunities to maximise independence while delivering safe, proportionate care.

What will your responsibilities be?

Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy and functional assessments for adults receiving home care support

Assess complex double-up care packages, reviewing whether current levels of support remain appropriate based on functional ability, risk and independence

Identify opportunities to reduce or adapt care provision safely while maintaining positive outcomes for service users

Complete moving and handling and functional assessments, considering appropriate equipment, techniques and levels of assistance

Work closely with service users, carers, care providers and wider Adult Social Care colleagues to develop proportionate support arrangements

Make evidence-based recommendations that promote independence and reduce unnecessary reliance on formal care

Manage a caseload effectively and complete assessments within required timescales

Maintain accurate and timely records, ensuring recommendations are clearly documented and defensible

Work flexibly to meet service requirements, including occasional early starts and late finishes to accommodate care calls

Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute towards service priorities and delivery of savings within the home care budget

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
• Working Pattern: On-site presence required, with occasional early starts/late finishes to accommodate care calls

Qualifications & Experience:

Occupational Therapy qualification and HCPC registration

Previous experience within Adult Social Care, community OT or a similar setting

Experience completing functional and moving & handling assessments

Confidence assessing complex care packages and identifying opportunities to promote independence

Strong communication, professional judgement and decision-making skills

Ability to work effectively with service users, carers and care providers

Candidates must be comfortable with on-site working
