Panel Welder I – Entry Level/Trainee - Day Shift

Description

As a Panel Welder I, you will develop foundational welding skills while supporting the fabrication of panel assemblies and related components. You will learn to set up welding equipment, read basic fabrication prints, identify parts, use welding and fabrication tools, and perform assigned welding tasks under the guidance of experienced welders.

Key Responsibilities:

· Set welding equipment to required settings according to established specifications.

· Use clamps, vice grips, fixtures, grinders, and other work-center tools according to established practices.

· Access fabrication prints electronically and interpret basic print information needed to perform assigned work.

· Identify work orders and jobs and accurately document labor by clocking in and out of assigned work.

· Complete required documentation and sign-off processes for finished work.

· For roof-welding assignments, perform side-by-side welding with an experienced Panel Welder and complete proper fit-up of roof panel fixtures to weldment components.

· Safely operate crane equipment after completing required training.

· Maintain awareness of forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.

· Safely operate power and hand tools, measuring devices, and work-center equipment, and maintain proper tool storage in accordance with 5S requirements.

· Use required welding PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, aprons, and other work-center-specific protective equipment.

· Work safely around forklifts, cranes, production aisles, work zones, and material storage areas.

· Understand and follow established quality standards and workmanship requirements.

Requirements

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Certifications: D1.3 14-gauge and D1.3 11-guage welding certifications within 30 days of starting position

· Experience: 1-3 years trade training/experience as a MIG welder and one year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills:

· Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions and established procedures.

· Basic welding and fabrication skills.

· Ability to set and adjust welding equipment according to established specifications.

· Basic ability to read and interpret fabrication prints.

· Basic computer skills for accessing prints and production information.

· Ability to safely use clamps, fixtures, grinders, vice grips, and related fabrication tools.

· Ability to identify work orders and follow production documentation requirements.

· Ability to accurately document completed work.

· Ability to work effectively with experienced welders while developing independent welding skills.

· Ability to safely use power tools/hand tools and properly store work-center tools.

· Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.

· Ability to learn and safely operate crane equipment after required training.

· Understanding of welding PPE, shop safety, and 5S requirements.

· Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds and work with team members to handle larger parts.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 40 lbs., bend, use hands, and fingers for 8 + hours. (Overtime may be required)
