Job Description
Davidson Laboratory is seeking a research assistant to perform testing in the wave tank on an oscillating surge wave energy converter with the objective of implementing Reinforcement Learning for optimal power capture. This work will support ongoing research focused on improving the performance and efficiency of wave energy conversion systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform testing in the Davidson Laboratory wave tank on an oscillating surge wave energy converter.
Support the setup, operation, and monitoring of wave tank experiments.
Collect and analyze experimental data related to wave energy converter performance.
Support the implementation of Reinforcement Learning for optimal power capture.
Document testing procedures, results, and research findings.
Collaborate with the research team in support of ongoing research activities.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and research experience.
Experience with engineering research, experimental testing, or related research activities.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

 Compensation Range
In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the hourly base range for this position is $30-$35. This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
