Sentara is hiring a Medication History Pharmacy Technician for Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Location: Virginia Beach General Hospital- Virginia Beach, VA

Status: Full Time (40 Hours/wk)

Shift: Rotating

Two weekend shifts per month & Holiday Rotation required

The Pharmacy Tech - Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• •Work in ED to get medication history from patients
• •Discuss with patient or anyone with patient what meds patient currently is on
• •Call pharmacies, PCP, Nursing home to gather additional med history if needed
• •May also work in central Pharmacy (Filling meds, delivery of meds)
• •Participates in the training of new employees
• •Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• •Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• •Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• •Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• •Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• •Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• •Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care
• •Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function
• •In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• •Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• •CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)

Experience

• •2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)
• •Emergency Department Medication History Experience (Preferred)

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
